FEATURE LISTING: Grand family home in Glenunga

After transforming their property into a perfect family home, Elizabeth Law and Mark Ducker are ready for a new family to take custodianship of their charming Glenunga abode with a swimming pool and tennis court.

Exclusively situated on expansive grounds on a corner allotment, the dual street frontages of 3 Taminga Avenue, Glenunga create a special first impression.

This six-bedroom, three-bathroom home is the epitome of luxurious family living with its classical exterior, swimming pool and tennis court surrounded by lush greenery.

Stay-at-home mum and blossoming florist Elizabeth Law and her partner Mark Ducker, a physiotherapist, purchased the property six years ago, being drawn in by its pretty appeal and multigenerational potential.

“We bought the house as a new couple with a baby on the way,” Elizabeth says. “It was the only property we looked at and we just fell in love.”

With the couple’s four children and two dogs, the property provided the much-needed space for the growing family and had the potential to be transformed into Elizabeth and Mark’s dream family home.

“We renovated the house completely inside and out, so that has been a project and a passion,” says Elizabeth.

Upon entering the home, you are greeted with an impressive staircase and library that hint at how expansive the welcomingly homely really property is.

There are two living spaces situated on opposite sides of the house, so children can play with their friends in the casual lounge while the adults entertain in the formal living room.

The expansive chef’s kitchen with double integrated Neff ovens, Asko integrated dishwasher and a built-in Vintec wine fridge is designed with family gatherings in mind with a custom Corian stone breakfast bar that seats eight for casual dinners and family lunches.

The separate butler’s pantry has extensive storage and offers a space to hide appliances and dishes while entertaining.

“All the appliances are hidden away in there so the main kitchen is exclusively for dining and cooking,” says Elizabeth.

Upstairs are three bedrooms with charming views of the surrounding yard and a central bathroom.

Situated in the downstairs wing, the luxurious master suite boasts a walk-in dressing room, built-in robes, and an opulent tiled ensuite with underfloor heating.

“Our master bedroom opens through French doors straight onto a deck that overlooks the pool,” Elizabeth says.

“You can go sit on the deck and enjoy breakfast and just get away for a bit.”

Established Manchurian pear trees, hedging and lawns surround the swimming pool – the focus of the rear of the property – with private areas to relax in the sun and watch the kids play.

The garden comprises several gated pockets of landscaped gardens that Elizabeth has lovingly nurtured.

I recently started studying floristry, which has always been something I have wanted to do,” Elizabeth says. “I always like to do my own arrangements and now I am learning how to do them professionally.”

These garden rooms also provide ample space for entertaining, allowing separate gatherings to occur in the garden simultaneously.

Overhung by beautiful gumtrees, the grassed court is perfect for more than just a hit of tennis, offering ample room for large celebrations and parties.

“The tennis court is spotlit, so when the kids have their friends around on a summer’s evening they will play out there for hours,” Elizabeth says.

Coming out of pandemic lockdowns, the family is looking for a change and a new place to call home.

“We have actually brought a house down the street,” Elizabeth says. “We are definitely staying in the suburb of Glenunga, which we love dearly.”

“The children will certainly miss the tennis court, but we are all looking forward to the adventure of a new family home,” she says.

“I just hope a new family will love it as much as we do.”

The sale is being handled by Jordan Begley of TOOP+TOOP.
